As her teacher of the course “Principles of Food Processing and Preservation” and tutor of the lab course, I have had adequate observation of her academic performance and practical operational skill, which were both regarded as excellent.

Under my observation, Miss Liu displayed a more intellectual curiosity and critical thinking in the process of independent learning. She doesn’t receive knowledge passively like most of other students but hold a positive attitude toward learning. I have noticed that in the learning of non-thermal processing, she initiatively looked up the latest literature and related materials and discussed with me the hot issue in the area. In my mind, Miss Liu is a student with clear aim and good studying habits, which I think is helpful for her further study.

Integrated with her solid theoretical grounding, her prominent experimental competence was obviously demonstrated in the practical exercises. In the second chapter Thermal Process and Sterilization of Food, learners were familiar with the function and major categories of thermal Treatment. I noticed such a smart and quick-witted girl was adept at summarizing rules of thermal death time curve, as well as accessing impacts of heating on microbe，enzyme, nutrient and organoleptic quality. Notably, she was also able to proficiently master the new laboratory apparatus and share the know-how with other students.

Apart from the academic study and research ability, what gave me deepest impression was her excellent performance in a creative food competition, which attracted most of the graduate student participants. As an undergraduate student, she participated in the competition actively and finally presented her works with her creative idea and practical ability according to her interest. What’s more, the outstanding paper work in the competition showed her distinguished ability in marketing analysis and product promotion.
